Israel approves coronavirus vaccination for children aged 5-11
Israel has approved coronavirus vaccination for children aged 5-11, the press service of the Ministry of Health said.
“The Director General of the Ministry of Health, Professor Nachman Ash, has accepted the recommendation of the expert group on the fight against coronavirus to vaccinate children aged 5-11 against the coronavirus,” the statement said.
It is noted that the start date of vaccination for this age group will be determined in the coming days.
According to local media, doses of the vaccine for children aged 5 to 11 will be brought to Israel in the coming days.
The US medical regulator CDC has officially approved the use of the Pfizer coronavirus vaccine for children 5-11 years old.
Previously, the application was approved by another regulator – the FDA. Now the start of vaccinations for children at this age can be expected in the coming days.
Mass vaccination of the population against COVID-19 began in Israel on December 20 last year. Citizens of the country are vaccinated with the Pfizer vaccine.
On January 10, the vaccinated began to receive the second dose. Vaccination of adolescents 12-15 years old in Israel started in early June. To date, more than 5.7 million people have received both doses of the vaccine, a third more than four million.
